SAVONA e comprensorio della Ceramica e del Vetro
L’Altro Mare cooperative started work in Savona in 2010 allowing people with limited motor function or various levels of disability to access the sea. The little fishermen’s slipway – a legendary open beach in Savona – became “Lo scaletto senza scalini” (the slipway without steps) and over the years, a further five equipped beaches and mini-golf course were added to the list of structures run by the cooperative in Savona, Varazze and Celle Ligure.
L’Altro Mare has a well-defined mission: to show how, by professionally removing obstacles, disability does not exist; to take a public beach and turn it into a place for socialising and enjoyment for people with and without disabilities so that everyone can have fun at the beach and that the sea belongs to everyone; to promote an intelligent and alternative tourism with a range of offers and to valorise the territory; include and train disadvantaged people in order to transform disadvantage into a valuable resource in beach tourism.
The cooperative has provided all their structures with the necessary equipment to best accommodate their guests and today is able to offer a variety of tourism services: accompaniment in the water, transport with fully-equipped vehicles and hydraulic lift, snorkelling lessons, courses in sailing, windsurfing and Optimist sailing for people with and without disabilities, nautical services (day trips, wildlife discoveries), powerboat sailing lessons, introduction to sailing, knots and winds, socio-educational workshops and summer camps.
