AREA DEL PARCO DI PORTOFINO
This legendary family-run bakery was established in 1885. Today it is run by the fourth generation of the Maccarini family. In the beginning, it was the town bakery and shop of San Rocco di Camogli, where foodstuffs off all kinds were sold (flour, rice, coffee, wood) and, of course, bread. It wasn’t until 1951 that Mario Maccarini – known as Gallettiere – transformed and modified the bakery. He started producing and selling the Galletta del Marinaio which is without a doubt the bakery’s main speciality. For over 60 years these original, delicious gallette have been baked – a typical foodstuff of Ligurian cuisine.
But the specialities don’t stop here: there are also numerous types of focaccia (with cheese, onion, olive pulps), quiches (with artichoke, courgette, pumpkin) and tarts made with fruit, jam and chocolate. And then there are traditional Ligurian stuffed vegetables, biscuits and typical Genoa pandolce at Christmastime.
