Studiozero - VetroLivorno
LIVORNO, PISA, VERSILIA
Designer Caterina Zucchi defines herself as a researcher of forms: “I found in glass and in the glass blowing technique, the ideal tools to push my personal research forward. My interest in glass began in 2000 and continued through my classes at Vetroricerca Glas & Modern in Bolzano and the Abate Zanetti school of glass in Murano. I stayed in Murano for a year as assistant to a master glassmaker until 2004, when I opened my studio in Livorno. Studiozero-vetro is the laboratory where I design and create entirely by hand, blown and non-blown Murano glass jewels. Among the many glass processing techniques, I chose the blowpipe technique because it is based on instant actions, where the precision and skill of the gestures make the glass even more versatile. It is a technique that allows me a margin of improvisation where I can express my creativity to the fullest. Creativity is an urgency, a spontaneous gesture, a moment, a mood. I am not looking for the perfect glass bead, but an object in harmony with its surroundings, coherent and close to my creative impulse. This is why Studiozero-vetro jewels are unique pieces. Similar to each other but never the same. My artistic path is an attempt to give Murano glass jewels a new contemporary soul, always closely linked to the ancient history of decorations and shapes.”
“To wear a Studiozero-vetro jewel is to live an experience”.
