Giorno 1 Sasso Pisano e Monterotondo marittimo
- Arrival at Sasso Pisano, a typical Tuscan village in the municipality of Castelnuovo Val di Cecina and free time to visit the small historic centre with its castle, walls and the Etruscan and Roman Museum called Antiquarium, where some interesting artefacts found during excavations in the archaeological area are on display “Il Bagnone”. Leaving the hamlet, one comes across an ancient washhouse with a basin in which water gushes out at a temperature of 36 °C, and the Biolago, a bathing complex for relaxation and wellness; it includes a calidarium and hydromassage, a tepidarium, and a phytodepurated lake at room temperature. In addition, there is the Etruscan-Roman thermal complex, where near some natural springs, one can admire Etruscan thermal baths from the late Hellenistic period, the remains of a portico, two thermal baths with pools and numerous rooms. Geothermal manifestations are also visible, such as soffioni (jets of steam from the dry ground), putizze (emanations of vapours with a prevalence of hydrogen sulphide gas) and lagoni (depressions in the ground where geothermal waters spontaneously collect).
- Afterwards, transfer by own vehicle to Monterotondo Marittimo, free dinner, and transfer by own means to the Seremus Refuge.
Giorno 2 Biancane Geological Park
- Breakfast at the facility and transfer by own vehicle to the Biancane Geological Park a Monterotondo Marittimo, one of the most exciting parks in Italy. The candid landscape, set within the Grosseto Metalliferous Hills National Park World Heritage Site, is characterised by different types of geothermal manifestations such as soffioni, steam columns, putizze and fumaroles.
- Here you can follow one of the many trekking itineraries that cross the district. Amidst smoke, craters and panoramic terraces (on a clear day, you can see the Tyrrhenian coast for a large stretch, from Punta Ala to the island of Elba), you will see the Natural lake with a geyser inside: the water here reaches temperatures of up to 150 °C! Inside the park you will also find the Circled lake, so called because already in the early medieval period, the boiling waters were used for bending chestnut branches and for “hooping” barrels. The Etruscans loved these waters and considered them effective for healing skin, liver and kidney diseases. Very interesting is the MUBIA, the Geomuseum of the Biancane in Monterotondo MarittimoHere, guests can experience the thrill of a virtual journey into the depths of the earth to discover geothermal phenomena. A GeoNave, in fact, allows you to go as deep as 7 km and admire the wonders of the underground.
- At the end, return to the facility for dinner of cheese boards, Tuscan cold cuts, vegetables grown in the facility's garden, accompanied by wines from local producers and overnight stay.
Giorno 3 San Galgano e Pomarance
- Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
Transfer by own transport to the wonderful Abbey of San Galgano, a unique place in the world; from here, along a pleasant path, it is possible to visit the Hermitage of Montesiepi. It stands on a panoramic hill; inside it, a mysterious sword in the rock is kept. - Afterwards, transfer by own vehicle to Pomarance and typical lunch at the’Farmhouse Enchantment of the River.
