Provence Verte
VARRégion SUD
The Provence Verte, extending over 1,223km2, is not merely nature, but also a land of art and history.
Here we find the Argens River, ideal for canoe trips, and the Sainte-Baume massif, with its holy forest and the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine cave. At the foot of the massif is Saint-Maximin, with its magnificent Gothic basilica. It is right here, in the land of the “Provence Counts” that we can find the genuine, fascinating villages of Cotignac, Saint-Martin-de-Pallières and Entrecasteaux. Between outdoor excursions and nature activities, this territory also offers the chance to visit places like La Celle which, with its abbey that contains the Maison des Vins des Coteaux Varois, are definitely worth a visit. Tourves, with its dynamic Musée des Gueules Rouges which recreates the local tradition of bauxite extraction, pays homage to its miners. Not to mention the gorges and cliffs of Vallon Sourn, the village of Correns with its “organic” spirit, the medieval city of Brignoles and finally the lakes of Carcès Montmeyan and Esparron.
