This little region is the territory of primordial Corsica, with numerous prehistoric sites and the remains of castles dating back to the times of medieval lords.
The regions of Sartenais, Valinco, Taravo conserve a number of historical remains, including some of the most important sites of the island, from the surprising discovery of the dolmen and menhir in Filitosa up to a visit to Sartène museum: a real journey back in time.
The Taravo valley, rich in dense, shady woodland, extends from the coast to the banks of the Valinco, all the way to the centre of Corsica. Along its path, as well as archaeological sites, you can also take a healthy dip in the thermal waters (Bains de Taccana or de Guiterae) or organise one of a number of excursions, benefiting from the many footpaths once used by shepherds or local inhabitants.
Moreover, there is no way you cannot be tempted by the many nautical activities organised for your free time which offer an experience of the region’s exception natural marine environment: sailing, canyoning, diving and much more.
As far as cuisine is concerned, the region is famous for its cold meats and chestnut-based specialities.
